A PLUS-SIZE fashionista has been left panicking about her birthday outfit after the dresses she bought online failed to fit.
She ordered three dresses from Amazon with the hopes of finding a flattering style that would be suitable for her celebratory brunch.
Christena (@christenamelea) boasts over 16,500 followers on TikTok, where she shares outfit inspiration for curvy women.
She donned a white dress with ruffles on the neckline as she began to try on outfits bought for her birthday.
“Birthday dress fails,” read the text over the video.
WHITE MINI DRESS
Amazon’s Bella Barnett store has sold out of its mini dress in white but it is still available in black for $98.
Christena was unimpressed with the figure-hugging style and looked awkward as she began to explain why she wouldn’t be keeping it.
“Welcome to the cut, so this dress did too much,” Christena said.
“It covered up too much of my shoulders.
“I felt like it was the spotlight and I wanted my face to be in the spotlight.”
FLOOR-LENGTH GOWN
The self-proclaimed “plus-size chick” changed into a rhinestone-embellished dress from Amazon.
The $54 gold dress is sold in sizes ranging from small to 3XL.
“I really loved this dress but it was long,” she said.
“I felt like it was too evening for the space we were going to be in.
“It was pretty and I kind of wanted a brown slip dress and all I had was shapewear.”
PLEATED WHITE DRESS
The plus-size style enthusiast continued to vent her disappointment as she tried on a dress from Amazon’s Ecirod store.
The $38 pleated dress is sold in a variety of colors with sizes small to XXL available.
“Everyone on Amazon said this would not zip up past their boobs,” she said.
“I really and truly felt like I didn’t have any boobs so I’d be fine.
“I was not fine,” she said showing that the zip couldn’t even go halfway up.
The dress currently has a 3-star rating from customers with countless reviews on the website warning about the ill-fit.
“I’m so disappointed because I loved the way it looked on the models,” one review reads.
“It is super thin which is OK but it was made wrong. There is no way you can zip up the side.
“The zipper does not go up to your armpit. There is no way to fully zip it closed.
“Not to mention the zipper is so cheap and gets stuck every time you try to pull it up. I’ll be returning it.”
“It’s very flattering and fits perfectly, but this dress is not made for large-chested women!” another wrote.
“The zipper isn’t even close to reaching the top, but fits fine around my waist and hips.”
FRILLS MAXI DRESS
Christena finished the haul by trying on Fashion Nova’s Aisling maxi dress, which cost $28.
“This dress I absolutely love the details, the choker, all of the ruffles, everything,” she said.
“But it was too small so it was really fitted around my tummy.
“It couldn’t get down around my hips so you would’ve been able to see my bum bum, so no.”
“Finding the right dress for my birthday was a struggle so these dresses didn’t make the cut,” she captioned the post. “I called it birthday dress try outs.”
The video racked up over 1,200 likes after going viral and a flood of commenters were not put off buying the dresses themselves despite her unfortunate experience.
“Love all the dresses! Your choice was [fire],” one person said. “I need the links,” another wrote.
